parking

Our former coaching inn was originally designed for its arriving guests to alight from their horse drawn coach at the front of the building with the horses led off around the back, to where our restaurant now is, which was then their stables.

Unsurprisingly, being built in 1852, the original architect of The Bear, failed to appreciate that this form of transport would later be replaced by the car and consequently their plans has led to the omission of on-site car parking.

Luckily, Wareham has since then provided the town with plenty of car parks which are all currently free from 6pm to 8am, below our map shows these local car parks, the closest, just across the road, being St. John’s Hill, where daytime parking is limited to 4 hours.

For longer stays, just a 2 minute walk away, is Streche Road car park where a full days parking currently comes at a charge of £6.

All these carparks are pay and display, accepting cash or the JustPark mobile app.
