COVID-19: Keeping you safeBACK TO HOMEPAGE
We love having guests at The Bear, so are delighted to be able to welcome you back to a hotel that will still offer great food and service, but with the need for some changes so you can confidently enjoy your time with us.
These changes, some obvious, some not so obvious, mean our suppliers, staff and customers can all work together to ensure everyone is kept well and prevent further transmissions of Coronavirus.
To find out about our commitment to staying safe please continue reading and if you require any further details please do not hesitate to contact us.
Our receptionists, housekeepers, kitchen and front of house staff have all undergone extensive training to look after you within a controlled environment, where cleaning and physical distancing are of utmost importance. All must give a good health disclosure and confirm they have not been in contact with anybody asked to self isolate because of Covid 19 before entering the building, and undertake hand sanitisation before starting work and at regular intervals when on duty.
Before you visit us
We want you to feel safe and relaxed during your time with us, whether you are just popping in for coffee and one of our homemade cakes, having a meal or enjoying an overnight stay, but to do these only if you are virus free.
We ask that if you, any of your party or any close contacts feel unwell, show any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 or have been advised to self isolate, then please delay your visit and stay at home until given the all clear.
If that means having to cancel your table or room reservation then please give us a ring as soon as you are able to let us know. We understand things can change rapidly and we will rearrange your booking for a more convenient time.
What to expect if you dine with us
We ask that the first thing everyone does on entering The Bear is use the hand sanitiser we have provided at the entrance.
Tables, chairs and menus will already have been freshly sanatised in anticipation of your arrival.
Orders will only be taken at your table with drinks and food served at a safe distance!
Payment, preferably by card, to be made at the bar where perspex screens have been installed.
If you need to move around, please respect social distancing measures and rest assured, all vulnerable surfaces through the building are being regularly sanitised throughout the day.
What to expect if you are staying with us
Before you arrive we will have sent you a booking confirmation with full details of your reservation, although please do get in touch if you have any questions about your stay.
On entering the hotel, please make use of the hand sanitiser, then our reception staff can quickly check you in, take payment for your accommodation and direct you to your room. Regrettably we are advised to avoid helping you with baggage, but if need be, we can always don a pair of gloves and give you a hand to your room door.
Rooms will be awaiting you having been thoroughly deep cleaned, with all hard surfaces wiped with virucidal agents, misting systems used to clean soft furnishings, and all bedding professionally laundered using thermal and chemical disinfectant processes that will kill Coronavirus.
We have taken the step of removing books, magazines, hotel information and unnecessary soft furnishings from the rooms to make cleaning more practical, but hopefully will be able to reintroduce these homely touches in the not too distant future. Until this is practical we will leave a freshly printed hotel welcome sheet in your room on arrival, and should you require further information, extra pillows, tea or coffee, then just ask one of our team.
On the morning of your departure we will place an itemised account under your room door, or email it to you if you prefer. All you then need to do is to return your hotel keys to reception and we will take payment for your stay at a safe distance.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Bear very soon!
